Wakanyi is an Ubuntu AI ethics expert, Head of African AI Research at Utrecht University’s Inclusive AI Lab,

founder of the African Folktales Project and a children’s author. Her work brings African ancestral knowledge

into the design of ethical and culturally inclusive AI.

Session: Ubuntu Futures: Ubuntu as Source Code and the Sankofa Move

Participants revisit lost past futures and use Sankofa to imagine pathways rooted in African relational

knowledge. The workshop moves towards practical futures across health, education, spirituality, society and

future generations.
